Shashi Shanbhag
Shashi is passionate about helping athletes new to mountain sports and provides operational support at Evoke Endurance.
After a phone consultation with Scott Johnston in 2020, Shashi started training using the principles shared in the “Training for the New Alpinism” book. Even as a recreational climber, this training approach fundamentally changed his ability to pursue climbing on snow, rock and ice.
To increase his understanding of the training principles, he actively participated in forum discussions and helped other athletes with their questions about training. In 2021, Shashi joined the Uphill Athlete team providing email and forum support to the community. As Scott embarked on a new journey with Evoke Endurance, Shashi is glad to join his team and support Scott’s mission of inspiring, educating and empowering mountain athletes to achieve their goals.
Shashi lives in Vancouver, Canada, with his wife and daughter. In addition to climbing, he enjoys exploring the outdoors with his family and shares his experiences on his blog. Shashi serves on the board of British Columbia Mountaineering Club and launched the club’s first Mentorship Program for the Winter 2021-22 Season. As a Mentorship Program Director, he continues to manage Summer and Winter Mentorship Programs.
