Meet Scott Semple
Since 1996, Scott has pursued mountain sports from multiple perspectives: as a prairie-born beginner, a sponsored climber, a national-level skimo racer, a coach, and a lifelong student of endurance and performance.
Scott’s coaching philosophy was greatly influenced by Scott Johnston over the course of a 20-year dialogue on endurance training. (At last count, that dialogue was 2,700 emails long.) Scott worked with Scott in the early 2020s and then, after a few years away, joined Evoke in 2026. That same year, he completed the Hintsa Performance Coaching program, broadening his perspective beyond training to the wider factors that influence long-term performance.
Scott’s coaching highlights are an FKT of El Tiede on Tenerife, a win at the Breaks Ultra, an 80′ half-marathon PR for a 51-year-old, and several double-digit increases in clients’ aerobic threshold speeds and heart rates.
As an athlete, Scott competed at the ISMF World Championships, redpointed 13c, set alpine speed records, and established several difficult first ascents in the Canadian Rockies.
At Evoke, Scott’s focus is competitive mountain endurance, particularly skimo, trail racing, FKTs, and speed ascents.
