Meet Thaddeus Labrum

Mount Everest with Pink and Orange clouds

Thaddeus Labrum is a coach, father, wildland firefighter, and ultratrail runner.

As a wildland firefighter, Thaddeus has served on engine modules, hotshot crews, and most recently as a supervisor for wildland fire operations in Idaho. Since 2007, he has led others in demanding mountain environments, developed fitness and training programs, served as an EMT program lead, and taught firefighters how to operate safely and effectively in remote backcountry settings.

He developed a passion for endurance sports early, completing his first 50-mile ultramarathon when he was 20 years old. Since then, he has continued to refine his craft in the 100-mile ultramarathon distance while achieving goals ranging from running the Boston Marathon to completing the Pocatello Round.

Coaching began as a way to share what he had learned, but quickly became something much more rewarding. He has had the privilege of coaching athletes ranging from first-time marathoners to ultratrail runners pursuing personal bests in the 100-mile discipline, while also helping firefighters across structural and wildland fire disciplines prepare for the physical demands of their profession.

Thaddeus’s core values as a coach are positivity, communication, and honesty. He enjoys working with motivated athletes who are willing to embrace the long-term process of building durable fitness. He recognizes that every athlete brings a unique background, physiology, lifestyle, and set of goals. His coaching approach is centered on individualized training, honest communication, and positive guidance to help each athlete reach their potential.

In his personal time, Thaddeus volunteers as a coach for the local high school mountain bike team and enjoys mountain biking, ski touring, and downhill skiing with his family.
