    Hi all,

I fully agree with both Ryan’s and Scott’s remarks. Just adding to point 3 (usability of RunPowerModel for Skimo):

While simply adding the total weight of backpack, boots, and skis might lead to numbers that are in the right ballpark, I guess it is a bit more tricky in reality. I think the best would be to treat the weight of boots + skis and that of the backpack weight separately to account for the different levels of movement (boots and skis get accelerated more). This would make it necessary to create a new app. Maybe I find time for this in the autumn/early winter.

    Best wishes,

    Markus

    Hi Phillip,

the FR 255 provides more than enough memory for RunPowerModel (I just checked). It was the FR 245 which in its non-music version had this limitation, such as many other older watches (but even the non-pro Fenix 6 if I remember correctly). With all the newer Forerunners and Fenix models this is not anymore a problem. And it even seems that the latest software update of the FR 255 now brings wrist-based running dynamics, which should improve the results of RunPowerModel in case no external sensor is connected.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Markus

    Hi,

I just saw your thread and wanted to say that I’m really glad you’re happy with RunPowerModel and its option to set a backpack weight. Like you said, walking the dog with a weight vest is a completely different use case than for what it was originally made for, so I’m even more happy the results match your expectations.

    Cheers,

    Markus
