Hi evoke community,
I recently bought and started the 16-week mountaineering training plan, as I’m training to complete Mount Rainier this summer (I have 24 weeks but two week-long climbing trips in between so I decided to go with the shorter plan and extend sections as necessary). However, I’m also a rock climber and would like to be able to continue climbing 3x per week. I will use my recovery day in the program as one of those, but am wondering about how to fit in the additional two climbing sessions. Could I add climbing after some of the aerobic days or some of the general strength days? Or should I substitute some of the existing training for climbing?
Thanks for any thoughts

You can add in climbing sessions to this plan. If the climbing session is mainly to get volume at your on site grade or lower then doing this in the PM after an Am aerobic run or hike is fine. However, if you plan to do hard bouldering or working a project or red point attempt then the climbing should come when you are most rested. Like in the AM with the easy aerobic workout in the PM. Or, doing the hard climbing after a rest day.
I hope this helps and good luck with your training.
