That’s a good idea regarding testing without the cardio. I’ll give that a go. I am doing both heavy deadlifts and weighted pullups in this particular set. My exercise selection when doing this has been to filter out quad dominant movements.

I don’t want to stray too far from my question but, at what point though is it enough, as far as progressing strength? Should we always be trying to increase? I feel my strength level is intermediate for a gym rat.  Should that be enough to just maintain that for the rest of my life/career?

Andy – thanks for the assurance! My goal is to  get back to where I was preinjury. I was setting up for an excellent season in 2024.

I’m hoping to find some modality that will help build or retain some of the endurance I already have although I can’t think of anything other than rowing or the arm bicycle thing. Any suggestions? Should I just resign to starting over when I can finally start jogging/hiking?

Yes it does, thanks! It sounds like ME workouts are still golden during this time?  I feel that this is where I need the most improvement.

I’ve had this experience too, high perceived effort and low % drift. Were you nose breathing all the way throughout the test?
