Could anyone point me to resources on how to structure training to maintain the higher level of fitness gained after completing a 12, 16, or 24 week training block? My goal climb was cancelled, but I have an opportunity to go for another climb in 8-12 weeks. I’d like to maintain the fitness I’ve gained over the next 2-3 months and ideally would like to carry this higher level of fitness into next season in 8-10 months. I can’t find any information in TfNA or TfUA on maintaining fitness after summit or race season is over. Is 6 hours per week in Z1 or 2 with some Z3 intervals mixed in enough to prevent a decline in aerobic capacity? How should strength training be structured in the maintenance phase? Two week blocks of general strength, max strength, then muscular endurance or should the strength blocks be longer?
