So I just ran a public 5k for my AnT test and I got an email from Training Peaks saying my New Threshold HR Value is 176, but when I drag it myself it seems more like 183. How does TP figure its threshold out? Previous years AnT tests have been 176 and 174, so I tend to agree with their Threshold suggestion. But when I drag the curser it is 183.
I have been having much higher HRs lately. I took several months off and when I restarted my paces were way slower with higher HRs than typical i.e normally I run 10min miles at 150bpm after a break but currently I am running 11:30-12:00 miles with 155bpms. So maybe higher HR all around is where I’m at right now.
Also my Pa:HR was 2.35% which makes no sense that that would be a good AeT for me also.

Notice that 175 is 95% of 183. If you recall our suggestion for an AnT field test is 45min. I think your confusion comes mainly from the short duration of the 5km. For most recreational runners, a 10km is going to be a more accurate test of AnT.
