Meet Larry Goldie
Long time professional mountain guide Larry Goldie, now divides his time between guiding climbing and skiing around the globe and coaching athletes to succeed in their own mountain goals. Larry began guiding in the early 90’s and in 2005 became the 28th American to achieve his international guiding (IFMGA) certification. Since that time, he has guided climbers and skiers in mountain ranges throughout the American West, Alaska, Canada, Europe, Africa, Japan and even Antarctica. His love for the mountains is second only to his love for the people he shares time with in these places.
Larry lives in Winthrop, Washington with his wife and daughter. He works hard to find the balance between family, work, and personal time in the mountains. Training has been the key to finding this balance and Larry is excited to help everyday athletes on their own journey in finding this elusive balance.
Larry has established numerous first ascents in the North Cascades as well having guided climbers on classic routes in nearly all the major mountain ranges throughout the US. While Larry has always had to work hard to excel in climbing, he has a body that was built for skiing. His winters are spent breaking trail through deep snow, guiding heli skiers on the “best days of their lives”, leading ski mountaineering trips in the Alps and teaching both recreational and Professional level Avalanche courses. Since 2009, Larry has spent a portion of his time in the mountains training the next generation of mountain guides as an instructor and examiner for the American Mountain Guides Association.
