    That does help, thank you!  I chose to alternate between hill sprints and box step-ups 1x/ea per week on Mondays and Thursdays.  Last week was my first hill sprint session but I had to drop a set off the plan first week of the sprints.  4 sets was beyond what I felt I could handle in the first week.  I had significant DOMS after my first hill sprint session, so even cutting a set out maybe I did too much too fast there.  Is DOMS to be expected in the first few weeks of a maximum strength period, or is that a sign I’m pushing too hard and need to back off even more on the MS set numbers?  I responded to the DOMS by still doing Z1/Z2 work the next day, and that actually made my muscles feel better and my pace was a bit better than average surprisingly, but perhaps that was foolish and I should have rested instead in the face of significant muscular soreness after the sprints?
