    Hi everyone,

I’m on week 5 a 24-week mountaineering training plan. I did an AeT test at week 1 and an AeT test at week 5. Results are below.

I believe that my second text was performed well, but I didn’t find my AeT. Since my HR drift with 120 bpm starting pace was 2.1%, I plan to retest sometime at 125 bpm. Does this seem like the right increase?

    Test 1:
I believe that my pace was too fast during this test and I did not properly allow my HR to rise and stabilize. Nonetheless, I decided to use 120 as my AeT for training based on how 120 felt on long runs and the results of the test.

    Test 1

    Test 2:
I repeated the test after 4 weeks of training. I think this test was “better” in terms of setting a slower pace and letting my HR stabilize and plateau before starting. With a HR drift of 2.1%, I’m thinking of retesting sometime at 125bpm. Does this seem right?

    Test 2

    Thanks!

Keep in mind that AeT will move up and down a few beats depending on your recovery status.  This second test does look solid, and rather than redo the test, I would call AeT a few beats higher than the starting HR of 122. Train at 125 for a few weeks, then retest.

    Scott
