    Hello.

Whats better for aerobic base training and curing ADS?

    As an example,

    1.  Training 6 days a week for 45 minutes

    2. Training 3 days a week at 90 minutes

I know the UA training plans that i’ve bought have strategically placed certain volumes back to back to mimic days in the mountains or for other sport specific reasons

But the general question is will a 45 min workout more frequently be better or worse than a 90 min less frequent where both have the same weekly total?

    Thanks again

Definitely following this one. I would bet on the 90 minute sessions being most effective.

Unfortunately, on weekdays for most of the year I can only squeeze in a early morning 30-45 minute session. So I hope there is still some benefit to racking up volume this way.

The 6x 45min is your best bet. Once used to this, the next step would be to increase the length of one of these sessions a little bit per week to act as the weekly long run.

While it would be nice to get in a couple of 90 minute sessions through the week, if that is not possible then daily 45 minute sessions as Brian said is probably going to be best.  Frequent stimulus to the aerobic metabolism gives the best results.  If at all possible to sneak in one longer session on the weekend that’ll pay big dividends.

    Thanks Everyone.

On a basic level can we then say that frequency is more important than  workout duration when working in zone 2?  ie: it would be better to get in an hour workout each day for two days than one 2 hour workout on only one of the two days?

Yes, I think that is a reasonable interpretation. Frequency and duration both matter of course but if you are limited by time constraints then frequency is more important.
