    Hello guys,

    I’ve been using 24-weeks mountaineering training plan aiming for Aconcagua late December.

    I’ve just started week 8, finishing transition phase and sticking to z2 base training. I have ADS, although i’ve seen some improvement in my AeT in these 8 weeks.

    I’m somewhat vertically challenged, but have access to a really nice trail (1-hour in the highway) with 3km and 650m uphill (20% avg with some parts 35%) where I go for the long hilly days.

    As I’ve got a 2-year old baby that loves to accompany me on the trails with my Thule baby carrier, I’m wondering if by taking him with me, I’d be jeopardizing my training. I know I should only do Muscular Endurance later in the last phase of the training plan and I recognize I still don’t have the adequate baseline for those harder workouts, but would I still be training base aerobic if I go uphill carrying him?

    Baby + water + carrier should score somewhat 18kg / 25%BW. If I go slowly I can stick to high zone 2 during the whole climb.

    Thanks in advance for the support!

    @Carlos Morandi:

    I just wrote a response to another post about the cons of using heavily weighted hikes as a Z2 session: https://evokeendurance.com/forums/topic/aerobic-training-with-weighted-pack/

    I’m in no position to comment on something as serious as fatherhood, and I can only imagine how hard it is to train with a young kid, so I’m reluctant to say whether your approach is a good idea or not in the circumstances. Hopefully someone older and wiser than me will come along to help out with this response, but in the meantime all I’ll say is well done on continuing your training as a new dad and keep up the good work!

    Thank you Andrew. Indeed the discussion in the other topic has helped a lot.
