“After witnessing at Ruth Croft @ruthcrofty and her spectacular finish at UTMB. I saw that she had tagged @evokeendurance. That sent me down the rabbit hole of the book “training for the uphill athlete “ And ignited my hopes for becoming a better mountain da, runner. To be clear my mountain running pretty much sucks so it is a low bar.
I have since hired a coach from Evoke, @leifrdenby and have been working with him for a couple of months now. I am usually motivated by new training stimuli, and this is no exception. At this point, I am training for an as of yet undetermined mountain race for 2025. That will be determined by the lottery miresults.
I am doing more strength training
* than before,
and very specific to developing power for uphill running
- hoping that my split jump squats will eventually not resemble a baby giraffe.
And thanks to @curranzsport - I just spent several days at Band of Runners trail running camp with multiple runs per day and my recovery between them was great!”

📍Carstensz Pyramid summit 10/26/24 7:20am 💫 The highest point on Oceania continent and now BOTH versions of the 7 Summits are done ✅🎉

3 days of travel to get to this extremely remote and volatile part of the world with no guarantees we would even get in but step by step things kept working out in our favor 🙏 I now get why only 500 people in the 🌎 have ever summited this peak - just getting to the starting line of this one is a big deal😵‍💫

From skirting thru the crazy short weather windows for helicopters to get in, to the armed forces escorting us off the helicopter to the insane rain and cold to the Very primitive Basecamp to the technical climbing, this expedition had it ALL🤩

Once again, saying yes and breaking thru fear resulted in meeting incredible new people from all over the world with such inspiring stories of their why - the common threads that run thru people who do this is 🤯 Story after story of overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles which eventually led to the mountains🏔️

So grateful to @markpostle and @climbingthesevensummits & @summitcarstensz for the adventure of a lifetime✨🏁 Big shout out to @marciedallen for the pro tip to bring Marlboro reds 🚬 for the guys with the big guns - a huge hit! And the biggest shout out to Bobby, jacksonmckelvey27 and @jmacmckelvey for supporting me thru all of this❤️

Next up - Bali for a few days of R&R before the long journey home🏝️🏡

Snowman Race 2024,
I simultaneously have so many words and not enough to express this experience. This race is incomparable and stands alone as the most beautiful, challenging and purposeful races on the earth. The purpose is to raise the alarm on the impacts of climate change occurring now in Bhutan and I take my role as an ambassador for this experience very seriously. Over the coming days and weeks I will share more. Pictured above is the moment the Prime Minister of Bhutan greeted me at the finish. Let the gravity of that settle in while I work on finding words to attempt to describe the experience.

Real world example of a fast twitch athletes success. This Fast Twitch endurance athlete came to us seeking training advice. He’d been training like all his Slow Twitch competitors and getting nowhere. After one phone consultation and many email follow ups he improved his 8km time by 40 seconds!

“Thank you Scott!

You can´t imagine how happy I´m after spending the last 7 years studying/reading and not finding the answers I needed.

You convinced me about a lot of things and now I believe 100 % in my training. I knew I had some potential inside me, but I couldn´t demonstrate with the wrong training program!

When I mixed Z3 and hill reps in the past, I thought the hill reps were hurting me and making me sick, but no, it was the high quantity of Z3 volume (25´-30´). I will continue with hill reps as you recommend me!

Here are some pictures from the last week´s race, where I improved 40 seconds in 8kms with very windy and hot (26 degrees C) weather.”
